I was born and raised in Bartow, a small town in Florida just south of Lakeland, the winter home of the Detroit Tigers. Because I go by “TC”, the most common question I get asked is, “What does TC stand for?” While friends and family have tons of fun with this, the real answer is; it is my initials. My name is Thomas Gregory Clements Jr. I adopted TC as a nickname when my father remarried and in our household was my dad Tom, my stepbrother Tom and me.
After graduating high school, I attended a community college in Winter Haven, FL and received my Associate of Arts degree. For a few years I worked different jobs until I attended the police academy and became a police officer. As a police officer, I was assigned to Traffic, Patrol, Investigations, Gang Intelligence, School Resource, Training, Public Information, and the Marine Unit. I continued to live and work in Florida until 2007 when I accepted a Deputy Chief of Police position with a very small-town department in southern Maine. While there, I assisted in reforming the departments' standard operating procedures, and revitalized the departments civic/community involvement. In addition to providing a focus on service before protection, I wanted my officers to provide an incredible level of public service and interaction with our community’s guests, business owners and residents.
In 2008, after having achieved my stated goals as Deputy Chief of Police, my wife Jamie and I decided that living in Maine was not going to be our long-term desire and we moved to the area to be closer to Jamie's family.
In 2012, Jamie and I moved to Bedford as we saw it as an amazing fit for our growing family. This is Jamie's childhood hometown, and it reminded me of my hometown in Florida. I grew attached to the community and the charm that it has. I love Monroe County and decided that it was our home.
Upon moving to Monroe County, I began participating in many organizations to include the Bedford Business Association, the Monroe County Chamber of Commerce, American Cancer Society Relay for Life, and Habitat for Humanity. I also continue to be actively involved in the Monroe County Republican Party and the Republican Executive Committee. From these unique perspectives, and as a business owner in Bedford, I became familiar with areas where improvement in our community could be made.
I ran for Bedford Township Trustee in 2016 and was elected by my neighbors to represent them.
As a Trustee, I have worked along side my fellow board members to realize significant cost savings in government spending with increases in services.
More importantly, I continue to remain focused on being a voice for my neighbors. I ask for YOUR vote to be YOUR State Representative.
